In this issue: New Book, Happy Holidays, Goodbye Madiba

Stop and Smell the Roses by Olga Smirnova from St Petersburg
♫♬♪♫♬ Greetings to you from a warm and sunny Newlands in Cape Town. The year is almost at an end and soon you will be able to take a break... hopefully for some stitching on your latest project. Me, I am going to do just that!

Looking back on this year, it was a productive and busy 2013. We had the most successful international competition with many beautiful new Dreamscapes masterpieces.

The beautiful new book: Little Flowers book is with my publisher, Metz Press. Writing this book with Marina Zherdeva from Moscow in Russia was an absolute pleasure and, I believe, it is the first time that two artists designed and wrote for the same book so successfully despite the vast distances apart and it really worked! I so enjoyed working with such a talented artist. You will see what we have made for you when you open Little Flowers in silk and organza ribbon book!

Good News

Little Flowers should be on the shelves towards the end of March/beginning April 2014 and I will tell you more about the contents closer to the time.

This year I met so many new friends along the way, had a wonderful time in Paris teaching at the very busy L'Aiguille en Fête with good friends, Hazel Blomkamp, Wilsia Metz, Louie Rey-Edgar and Trish Burr. My Facebook page has grown so much and I have really enjoyed sharing beautiful designs from all over the world. For this I have you to thank. For your support and feedback, I thank you. Without you it would not have been possible. I hope that you have enjoyed meeting each other on Facebook and on Pinterest , on my blog and via your own social media channels.

I will show you more exquisite pieces from Kiev, Hong Kong and other parts of the world in the next few weeks and I plan to write more free tutorials. You are welcome to subscribe for free and receive updates as soon as I add new pictures and posts.

Our Stockists

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our new stockists in South Africa, Mongolia, Philippines and Spain... may we spend many happy years working together! I would also like to thank each and every one of our stockists and teachers. Thank you sincerely for all your hard work and dedication to the world of Silk Ribbon Embroidery. I know how hard you have worked to assist your students and customers and how much work behind the scenes it takes to keep up with the latest trends. Hint: Why not book a class next year with your nearest stockist? Enjoy some creative time for yourself in 2014! Maybe this should be one of your New Year Resolutions... spend more me-time learning how to create beautiful pieces with like-minded people. Don't you think it will be such fun?

Share and Learn

In case you have missed them have a look at a gorgeous garden scene by Natalia Polozkova from Moscow and an exquisite Ballerina by the very talented Marlize Meyer from Pretoria. I have also added short tutorials for you to learn just how easy it is to make something spectacular... see how lovely ribbon embroidery really is. It's not difficult to do and it's good for the soul!
